Calling all Aspiring Designers

Interweave Crochet is looking for you. They are starting a new project in the next 4 issues of IC and will need your help.

Chain Reaction Afghan Project
is a really cool idea. They are getting 10 designers to create one of a kind blocks and publishing their patterns in the Summer and Fall issues. Then while that is going on, they are asking readers to make their own original block and post a picture of it in their gallery. They will choose their favorites, then let the readers vote. The top ten will be featured in the Winter and Spring Issues. Fun right? You can see all the details here.

Sounds like fun to me!

Calling all Designers

Two new Craft-zines have popped up recently and are looking for designers.

CHIQ - is a new crochet fashion forward zine.
KNOTIONS - is a new knitting zine.

Both are in the start-up phase, and you can find all the info on their website on how to submit. The compensation is not a lot, but I look at it as great advertising that you will be paid for instead of paying someone else. Since I got my start designing on crochetme, I have a tender place in my heart for online magazines. They are a great way to get your name out there to the public and publishers alike.

On the designer behind the scenes front, there have been some great interviews with some of Interweave's designers. I just read a great one on Kate Gilbert, the designer of the sunrise circle jacket. Interweave has a list on Knitting Daily of the other interviews. I'm off to go read them all!

Calling all Youthful Crafters!

Vickie Howell just posted a call for Young Crafters (28 and younger) on her blog for a new DIY craft show for the teen and 20something crowd. Sounds like any craft is good as long as you love it and it appeals to you.

Here is the link with all the info.

It sounds like a blast, too bad I turn 30 this year. I highly recommend sending in a tape or photo if you are under 28 and super crafty, because you never know they might pick you!

Dishcloth Contest

Lily is holding a contest for the most original dishcloth pattern.

I am always up for a challenge! Why don't you join me?

All the info is on their site. The rules are pretty simple. Crochet or knit a dishcloth using their sugar'n cream yarn. Write down the pattern. Send it and the pattern to them by April 2007. They pick the top 8, and if you are one of those 8, you win stuff. Fun!

I'm thinking Color!
