TNNA San Diego

As usual the TNNA weekends are just too short. There is so much to see, so much yarn to feel, and so many people to chat with that I never feel like I have enough time.

I flew in to San Diego Thursday night, and from the moment I walked off the plane I knew I was in CA. The architecture almost radiates the relaxed CA lifestyle. I, of course, was exhausted and convinced Amy that instead of doing our homework we should just go to bed. Now, the poor thing didn't know one little secret of mine, I'm a talker. And when I'm tired, I talk more. I'm like that girl at all the sleepovers that won't stop laughing and chattering on.

So now that I made us both exhausted, we went off to our early class with Lily Chin. The Class was Crocheting better garments, and she packed it full of great tips. I really recommend it to anyone, you will never be afraid of garments again. We, of course, got in trouble for not doing our homework, again, All my fault. Amy took us all to this great Indian restaurant in the Gas Light District. And I was so tempted to skip class and go window shopping, the place is just that cute.

At night was the Fashion Show, which was fine. But the real excitement was meeting up with everyone and chatting away. Like, Kim, Cecily, Stefanie, Shannon, Drew, Candi, Kristi, Lily, Kristine, and more.

Saturday I braved another class with Amy, but this time we did the homework so I wouldn't get her in trouble again. This time it was Melissa Leapman's cable class for beginners. I picked up the techniques quickly, but I foresee hours of practice before I am any good. I'll post a picture of my cables on flickr soon- so you all can feel better about your own knitting. Saturday afternoon I spent all my time wandering the show floor. I have to admit I chatted more then I checked out yarn. I just was so excited to see everyone!

I spent a lot of time drooling over all of Stephanie's garments from her new book, Fitted Knits. Her style is unbelievably gorgeous. Its a must to add to your library.

Saturday night was party night. We spent a lot of time laughing and drinking at the Interweave Press Party. They have so many new things cooking, that you really will want to watch them this year.

Sunday was yarn day. I fondled every scrap of yarn that was thrown my way. Here's some of my favorites:

Lorna's Laces- Ok, besides that the women here are awesome, the yarn is fabulous. AND they are into crochet. Who can ask for more right? I'm a bit smitten with Lion and Lamb right now.

SWTC- I had to go check out Vickie's collection. The fiber content sounded so cool I couldn't resist. I was not disappointed. Her yarns are great crochet yarns. Totally earthly. Very cool. They also have a new alpaca/ soysilk blend called Inspiration. It is gorgeous in lace. I am totally excited to get swatching.

Well. I could go on and on, but I won't bore you.

Sunday night, I got to go out to dinner with the ladies from Craft. I have wanted to meet them forever. They are such great people and will get you totally excited about crafting in general. Plus they have a really cool show coming up called MakerFaire. That I think I will be able to drag the hubbie to and he will actually love it.

The big news from the show is that I got a publisher interesting in possibly doing a book with me. Too cool huh? So please send all your good karma my way the next few weeks, while I create a proposal for them and hope they except it. I don't want to share anymore on that in case of jinxing myself. Just know I need lots of good thoughts right now, and I'll blab as soon as I can.

The show didn't disappoint. I am still unpacking and getting used to east coast time again. Why can't everyday be TNNA?

Thanks Drew! I love hanging out with you too. Its so energizing to be around people who love crochet and yarn as much as I do.

Have fun at CHA. I won't be going, I have had plenty of travel for a little while.
