You know its going to be a good day when...
At 6:30am you walk squarely (directly, bluntly, definitively, clearly) into a post on your morning walk. So absolutely that you black out for a minute and wonder, huh? What just happened?
Yup, that's my morning. Those of you who know me, go ahead, laugh. We did. You know that 1. I am not a morning person and the fact that we were up and moving at 6:30am is astounding and 2. that it has been super cold here so you have to bundle up like mad to be outside which restricts all my movements and 3. every time we go out my glasses fog over from the cold and 4. I am a huge klutz- colossal, really. But the main reason I was so dopey this morning has everything to do with my crochet obsession.
I'm sure you have all been there. (well, those of you that really have my obsession). You are crocheting away, and you look over and your husband is sleeping next to you on the couch and your dog is sleeping at your feet and you realize suddenly that its 1am and you promised to get up at 6am to walk the dog. You would think that I was close to finishing a project or something, but no I was just close to blocking my project. Yup I'm up late, just because I am obsessed.
The best bit is that after I came to and realized that I banged my knee up something fierce, I was elated b/c I didn't hurt my hands. I'm so far gone, its silly. Hope you guys had a bang up morning too.

On the baby blanket that I am two hours away from finishing (if not for work), I have stayed up late because I'm almost done with a square (only to start another square and go through the same thing again), I was almost finished securing ends in a square, I was two squares away from blocking a bunch of squares, I was almost finished blocking a bunch of squares, and I was almost finished sewing a bunch of squares together. This, of course, ignores the cabled beret I was working on at the same time and staying up late for too. And every morning, I'm meant to be moving by 5:50, but that usually drifts to a later time because I have no strength in the morning. So, I understand. Although, I've never walked into a pole, but then there are no poles to run into on the way to my car.
Oh my Gosh, this is exactly what happens to me. I knit away wide awake until 1 - 1:30 am; hubby fallen asleep next to me on the sofa and the dog by my feet! Everyday, I promise myself that I pack up my knitting/crocheting before midnight, but it's really hard to do that. So I am there with you.
Oh Gosh! I'm glad you're alright! I have to tell you, there are many times I go ahead and put on kitchen gloves or something while I'm cooking because it crosses my mind that if I hurt/burn my hands, that I won't be able to crochet!
That is too funny! I often am up late into the night doing exactly what you are! Only, I have to get up every morning by 7:00 to take the kids to school. Imagine my exhaustion. I am only saved by nap time!!
I know I must have missed it but what are you blocking?

This post made me incredibly happy.
Not happy that you are injured of course. Just happy because I too would run into a pole and I too have this obsession, and it makes me feel less crazy :) Plus your sense of humor about it rocks.
Great blog! I love the shell stitch and use it often when making baby blankets or afghans.
