Crochet for California

Lana and Georgeanne were nice enough to send me an email on their efforts to help the fire victims in San Diego. Here's what they write:

My name is Lana and I live in San Diego, CA. Our whole county is being ravaged by wildfires which are burning thousands of acres and have already caused millions of dollars of damage, and many people have lost their homes. These fires started on Sunday, October 21 and are still burning now. Over 300,000 people have been evacuated from their homes over the course of the past few days, and the fires have not yet been contained. You can learn more about the fires at http://kpbs.orgI belong to a knit and crochet group and we are organizing an effort to make blankets for the families who lost their homes in the fires. We want to help them build their homes again and help them feel connected to the community by giving them something made with love. We are asking for donations of 8" acrylic knit or crocheted squares that we can sew together. (No cash please!)
You can email sandiegowildfireblankets@gmail.com for more information and for the addresses where you can send the finished squares. They also have a Ravelry group called San Diego Fire 8" Square Donations. Every square counts, so if you have time today; why not crochet one for them?
