Plant a seed and watch it grow.

There's a bit of a back story to my AeroGarden. It was a Christmas present from my Dad to my sister and I. Every year he gets us each the same some sort of gadget that he finds in one of his hundreds of mail order catalogs (he is not sold on the Internet, so he shops the old man way - by mail order). Over the years we have collected quite the assortment of odds and ends. Like the three crock pots (one for college, one for our first apt, one for our first year of marriage.. did I mention he doesn't have the greatest memory on what he gives us each year?), or the two steamers, the set of roller blades, tons of random wrenches, sockets, car emergency kits, it goes on and on. Well this year was the year of the AeroGarden.

I was super skeptical, and basically put it in my "gift" closet. (You know that room that houses all the gifts you have received and can't return to the store or re-gift to a friend. Ours houses a ton of random crystal things, tapestries, awful artwork... but that's another story all together). Little did I know, that my Dad went and bought one for himself so the three of us could grow our plants together and talk about them. Oops. So after my third lame excuse as to why I haven't plugged in this super easy air and water herb garden; I finally caved, and assembled the gadget last week (the numerous stories of how well my sister's garden was doing combined with my strong dislike of talking sports with my dad really is what did me in). And I can confidently say, they were right. It is really easy. Basically you set it up and forget about it, until the plants start growing. Well, I can do that. I can guarantee you I can kill a lot of plants, I'm good at that. But I was confident that I could handle this gadget, and honestly I love it.

This is my tiny little basil about a week in. The little leaves are so cute sticking out.

Ok so you are thinking, "That's great, Robyn, but how does this relate to crochet?". Well my dears, these seeds are not the only thing I planted this year. Remember my book proposal? That seed is growing in deed. The publisher received the proposal and was really excited on my concept, and pitched it to Acquisitions. Acquisitions loved it and asked my editor to get moving with the contract. We have worked out all the details, and I can say I'm starting a book. My tiny book seedling is starting this week too. I hope it turns out to be as fun as watching my little herb garden grow!

THank you everyone!

And Annette- I totally hear you. I was very very skeptical. But since I have managed to kill all my herbs, plants, and anything green; I though maybe this gadget was actually made for me.
