Happy Chanukkah Tonight!

For all those who are lighting candles, spinning draydels, and eating latkas tonight...

I wish you a Happy Chanukkah!

And since, I can only eat latkas once a year, in my household we'll be lighting the candles and eating Thai. Latkas will wait for us for the last night, when we have a big family celebration at my mom's house.

Chanukkah isn't my favorite holiday, Passover is, but I adore getting out our menorahs. It brings a rush of memories back and always makes me swell up with emotions. See all of our menorahs were gifts from special times in my life, one was a gift from my Bat Mitzvah (its all old and crusty- but I, to this day, remember the first time I got to light my own menorah and didn't have to share with my stinky little brother) and the other was our first Chanukkah gift as husband and wife (a picture of it is above- its the tree of life- and I think its the most beautiful one I have ever seen). I love thinking about adding menorahs as our family grows. It makes me smile thinking about how we light (what seems like) hundreds of menorahs at my mom's house. One for every family, and plastic ones with electric for the grandbabies. I also love that even though we are far away from my family right now, tonight we will be connected by one simple task of striking a match.

So while we are lighting our menorahs tonight, I will be wishing you all a Happy Holiday!
