Julie Cuff

I am so excited that Crochet Today agreed to excerpt the Julie Cuff from my book.

I adore this project.

I must have made a dozen of them so far, for gifts or for the various photo shoots. I even made one, just recently, for a friend and packaged it in the fabric that inspired the cuff's motif.

In the book, you'll see the unstiffened version of the cuff (that has buttons as the closure). In CT, you'll see the stiffened version of the cuff (that has the jewelry clasp closure). How well did that work out, right? I actually made both versions for myself to wear, and I do probably wear them twice a week if not more.

The cuff is named after my sister-in-law, who was the other part of the inspiration for this cuff. It's just something that I could see her wearing (or I certainly hope so, since I named it for her). It's a quick project that crochets up in an evening with crochet size 3 thread. You can stiffen it with fabric stiffener or leave it as is. I like making them in bold colors to add just a bit of brightness to whatever I'm wearing. (Or like today to match my crocs and my glasses).

Hope you enjoy it too. If you get CT, you'll should be getting it soon. If not, it will be on newsstands in a few weeks. (It's the July/ August Issue). Either way, I'm thrilled that you'll get this up close peek into the book, months before it come out.

Here are my two that I wear really often. My red stiffened cuff that matches everything.

And my unstiffened blue one, with my vintage buttons. It actually only has one button closure, where as the directions call for two pearl sized buttons- oh well- design change.

Can't wait to see your version!

{Edited to note: CT is offering the pattern for free on their site!}

Too bad I can't crochet, I'd like to make one for its namesake!

After you go through the names of all your nieces and nephews, can I request one in my name? It could be a hat band made from bison fur! (Just remember to write "USNPS" on the front.)

Guess I'll just have to write a guys book, huh, Chris. But it would have to be twice as long since the guys totally out-number the girls in our family! And I know just where to get some bison yarn!
