Book Review: Best of Interweave Crochet

The Best of Interweave Crochet: A Collection of Our Favorite Designs is exactly what you think the book contains.  There are a selection of projects from sweaters to blankets from the past issues of Interweave Crochet.  But more then that there are a bevy of articles on crochet techniques   They are a selection of the "beyond the basics" that are published in the magazine.  I am not usually a fan of "best of" books, but this one is worth it.  The crochet technique articles are truly fantastic and even if you have every issue of the magazine you probably do not have all the articles in one place.  Take a look at the list below and you will see what I mean.

Rosemary Sweater,
Best of Interweave Crochet

Beyond the Basics:
Foundation Stitches
Kathryn Dress,
Best of Interweave Crochet
Linked Crochet
Laceweight Crochet
Crochet Symbols
Weaving in Ends
Tunisian Crochet
Closures
Post Stitches
Changing Colors
Adjustable Ring
Sewing
Seaming
Shell Crochet

Project Breakdown:
10 Womens Garments
3 Kid/ Baby Projects
5 Scarves/ Hats/ Bags
2 Shawls
Moorish Mosaic Afghan,
Best of Interweave Crochet
3 Blankets

They were sweet enough to include one of my first designs, Rosemary Sweater, with linked treble crochets.  My two favorites in the book are the Kathryn Baby Dress and Moorish Mosaic Afghan.

You can enter to win a copy of the book by leaving a comment here (or on twitter or email) on your all time favorite project from any Interweave Crochet Issue.  I will pick a winner by Friday and contact them (don't forget to leave me a way to reach you: email, twitter id, facebook, ravelry id).

I must admit, I do agree with you on having all those how-to articles in one place - that is fantastic!

I'm currently making Doris Chan's Sera Top and I'm really enjoying it.

I guess that my favorite is the Moorish Mosaic Afghan. I have only been working on it for about three years now! It was going to be the first one that I made for myself but then projects to give away keep coming up. One day I will finish it and have a blanket made for myself! Thanks for the chance to win! kateyhbf@gmail.com

P.S. - Sorry I didn't post this before but I was having a problem with the capture software. :(

I've already got all of the items in the book (and actually in one place that I can access easily!), so I'm not looking to be entered in the drawing.

Besides, didn't this book get published quite some time back?

I love the Boucle Bath Mat from Summer 2008. I made one for my mom and am attempting to make another for my sister.

My favorite Interweave project is the Nantahala Tunic by Kristin Omdahl in the Summer 2011 edition. As soon as I saw it I thought "Mom! That is definitely what I need to make for her!" I am still trying to decide on the perfect yarn, but I plan on surprising her with it randomly when she won't be expecting it. I think my favorite part of crocheting is matching patterns to the perfect person and then making something lovely for someone to wear.

I have only a few Interweave Crochet magazines, but I have to say that my favourite project is actually in one of the most recent issues, the Coogee Bay dress by Jenny King. I don't know if I'll ever make it, but I'd like to.

I like Doris Chan's Chloe Cardigan in the Spring 2010 issue. There are a lot of great projects that pop out in that issue, but that cardigan is a perfect style and weight for my Texas lifestyle.

One of my favorite IC projects is the Kristy Cardi, by Dora Ohrenstein. I've got one in my UFO pile that really just needs the button band to be done. It might get done after the holidays!
